INTRO BLOG - FIRST BLOG
Who am I and why I decided to change my eating habits
I am 40 years old. I live in America and I am of Asian ethnic descendant. Most of my life I have been eating 'rice'. Just pure white rice (jasmine rice) the kind anybody can buy in any asian grocery store.
For the past year my health has declined considerably, I started to have feel sluggish (easily tired) and constantly having mucus / being congested in my nasal passages. I thought this was temporary but this situation persisted for more than 12 months and I believe it is getting worse because often my mucus would come out green colored. So I decided to find out what is wrong.
I have tried cleaning my nasal passages everyday using Neti-Pot or Neilmed nasal cleaner (running salt water through my nose). It helps a little bit, however it does not solve my mucus issue.
What changes I did in my eating habit
I read, watched lots of videos on Youtube and documentaries. I came across a documentary about Paleo. Paleo is basically an idea of how to eat healthy. I also watched a life changing documentary called 'In Defense of Food'. I learned a lot.
I have spent days doing my research. And I would like to make this blog to quickly summarize the key points I have learned that is TRUE and I have experienced to be working well for me.
1. Americans eat too much processed food.
I actually don't eat too much canned food, junk food or fast food. But I am guilty of eating sausages, cookies, chips, etc... Yes most food (processed) in factories are bad for you.
2. We (most culture / race) eats too much carbohydrates, which turns to sugar and fat when there are excess of them.
Carbohydrates is not bad for human, however I ate way too much for the last 40 years. Almost every lunch and dinner I have had consists of 70% rice and 30% other food. I am Asian, I love rice but it is crazy to think how much rice I have consumed throughout my life! At most I should have only consumed about 10% carbohydrate in my daily diet. White rice contains NO NUTRIENTS, just carbs. My body has been consuming 70% carbs out of every meal for 40 years?!? Wow. I think this is why healthy people avoid gluten?
3. The water we drink (tap water) is really bad for us.
Tap water is generally bad to drink and bad for your health because it contains too much chemicals and inorganic minerals. Filtering tap water helps but it is still far from drinking good clean water. Distilled water (water cleanned by means of evaporation + condensation) is the cleanest and purest water. There are many conflicting opinions about distilled water being bad for you, however there is no argument about it being pure and clean. So the perfect solution for drinking healthy water is to add
good organic mineral to your distilled water.
How 'eating healthy' impacts my life
In one word, INCREDIBLE. I am a software engineer by trade. I am not a nutritionist or health freak. I used to laugh at people who only buys organics, non-gmo and anti-gluten. But the fact and evidence was so overwhelming about all the bad things we eat. And now after I have tried this for 2 months, I am living proof of the transformation and benefits anybody can do also.
I have lost about 20 pounds within 2 months. No fat-burners, no drugs, just by eating right.
My mucus and constant congestion issue has disappeared.
My urine and fecal matter smells normal. Even when I pass gas, I don't smell anything.
More energy! I don't get tired mid-day, I don't experience any highs and lows. Just good stable energy.
Focus and Clarity! I am a programmer and I need to focus when I work. I feel a significant difference in mental clarity.
Easy to remember rule of thumb for eating healthy
I will write more blogs to explain many things I have learned in detail. This is my first blog about eating healthy. I plan to write a lot more.
1. Eat 'REAL' food.
2. Don't each too much
3. Eat mostly plants
4. Drink mineralized distilled water
